Monday Morning Mind Dump…

  • So glad to be back on a normal rhythm and schedule
  • The last 2 weeks of holidays, family time, not preaching has been wonderful
  • But I crave routine and schedule
  • The last 2 weeks at Revolution for our Breathing Room series have been awesome
  • I have loved the responses so far
  • I’m pumped about preaching on how to find breathing room in our finances this week
  • This has definitely been a big part of my journey of faith and trusting God
  • Bottom line: how you handle your finances tells everyone the state of your heart and faith in God
  • Everything
  • Katie and I have been talking through the next 6 months of our lives, spring is easily the busiest season I experience
  • At the end of January and beginning of February, Katie and I are doing a 2 week series on relationships at the U of A
  • Should be fun interacting with college students on how to be romantic and friendly
  • Then we’re speaking at MOPS on how to fight well with your husband
  • Super excited about that
  • Then, we’re teaching together for 7 weeks at Revolution as we do our woman series Beautiful and our man series Fight
  • The spring is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever had at Revolution
  • That’s not overselling
  • That’s the truth
  • Over the holidays, Katie and I went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
  • Such a great film
  • The cinematography was incredible
  • At the end, all I could think of was how much I wanted to go to Iceland and Asia
  • Breathing room in finances right?
  • For me, I want to travel, that’s what Breathing Room would give me in the future
  • Great weekend for football this past weekend
  • Since the Steelers are out, I root for good games
  • And thankfully the Bengals got knocked out
  • I got my tattoo finished this past Friday
  • If you’re curious about it, you can see some pictures that Katie took here
  • I’ve wanted a sleeve since I was 15
  • But I’m glad I waited
  • Time to get back it

Monday Morning Mind Dump…

  • What a day yesterday
  • Church was off the charts
  • It was great being back after a week off from preaching
  • We continue to set up more and more chairs and God continues to fill them up
  • We had a newcomer’s lunch yesterday
  • Blown away that we’ve had 3 in the 3 last months and had over 60 people attend them
  • Love the excitement and questions new Revolutionaries have
  • Continued our series in Ecclesiastes yesterday and talked about how to enjoy and savor life
  • Something I’m growing in
  • I’ve been loving this series
  • Ecclesiastes hits a ton of topics I would never pick to preach on, one of them was yesterday’s
  • We’re finalizing our plans and things for Easter weekend
  • So excited to do the stations of the cross as a church
  • If you’ve never done it, make sure you don’t miss it
  • It’s powerful
  • We’re kicking off a brand new series on Easter called Jesus Changes Everything on the book of John
  • This is the first time in the history of Revolution that we’re preaching through a gospel
  • Can’t wait
  • While we were away, I discovered Peet’s coffee to drink at home, we’ve totally switched from Starbucks
  • If you are looking for some good worship albums, here are 2 that are on constant play at my house right now
  • The United one is one of the best albums I’ve heard all year, of any genre
  • Really excited for tomorrow as we are having our preaching lab for some up and coming preachers at Revolution
  • If you’re free for lunch, come out and support them
  • Pumped for next Sunday at Revolution
  • I’m preaching on how not to be an idiot
  • I’m sure you know someone, so make sure to bring them

Monday Morning Mind Dump…

  • Yesterday was a weird day for me.
  • Last week, I had the opportunity to spend 2 days in California learning about preaching from Larry Osborne and Chris Brown.
  • Unreal. Still processing all that I learned.
  • The problem is that it totally threw off my routine for sermon prep.
  • I am a creature of habit, I like my routine.
  • Still, God was working yesterday, in spite of my feeling all over the place.
  • I loved hearing the conversations after the service about what people are giving up for Lent.
  • I talked to a guy (not a Christian) who is giving up porn and using that time to read his Bible to explore Jesus.
  • If you missed yesterday, you can listen here.
  • Had a great meeting yesterday about a summer missions trip we are taking to the Czech Republic.
  • Love the passion Chris Gillett has in leading this trip and the response from our church so far.
  • We also had a baptism yesterday.
  • Love that we continue to need to schedule baptisms.
  • Started a really fascinating book last night called The Power of Habit
  • The implications for leaders and pastors are huge.
  • Understanding why people do what they do can really change how you preach and help people apply Scripture.
  • I have 2 really important meetings with publishers this week about my books, so I’d appreciate your prayers.
  • I really believe these books will help a lot of people find freedom from things and find the life Jesus intends for them.
  • Made plans this week to take a short trip in the coming weeks up to Pinetop with Katie and the kids.
  • We’ve never been there, so I’m excited about it.
  • I mentioned last week that I’ve been gluten free for the last 30 days.
  • While it is challenging when you go out to eat, the lack of pain in my stomach has been awesome.
  • I don’t know about any other football fans, but yesterday was a sad day without football.
  • Kind of didn’t’ know what to do with my afternoon.
