How Relationships get Fixed

Graphic

All of us have experienced a broken relationship. One person hurts another. Maybe you were the one doing the hurting or you were the one being hurt.

It seems inevitable that if you are going to be in a family, have a job, be friends with someone, you are going to have a relationship at some point experience friction, disagreements or friction.

What do you do when that happens?

I’m really excited for Sunday as we continue our series Changewe’re going to look at the short book of Philemon. 1 page, 25 verses, the story of one relationship that experienced friction and yet was able to be restored. We will have a special guest speaker, my leadership coach Brian Howard with us. Brian is the former teaching pastor at Sojourn Church, a multi-site church in Kentucky and is now the Executive Director of Context Coaching Inc., a firm that specializes in coaching leaders.

If you or someone you know has a hard time living in community or has experienced hurt in a relationship that has not be reconciled, or has a hard time forgiving someone who has hurt them and moving forward, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.

Rules that Kill

Do you ever feel like you are don’t measure up?

To what standard, we aren’t sure. It might be one we imagine, one we feel that a teacher, parent, spouse, boss, co-worker, neighbor or child has for us. It might not even be real, but it feels real.

What about measuring up to God?

We hear about grace, that it is free, completely unearned, given freely, yet we don’t always feel God’s love. God doesn’t always feel close or feel like He has forgiven us.

What do you we do when we don’t feel like we measure up or feel like we aren’t good enough?

Sunday, as we continue our series Changewe’re going to look at Galatians 2:1 – 14 and see how the first century church not only dealt with these questions, but almost split over them. This passage shows us what living in God’s grace looks like after following Jesus, but also why God’s grace and the truth of what He believes about us is so important.

If you or someone you know has a hard time believing that God can forgive them, that they don’t have to earn God’s love or that will continue to forgive them and work in their life, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

Also, don’t forget that we are having FREE pictures to celebrate Mother’s Day before and after the service. So, if you need a new family picture, a group photo with some friends or a new profile pic, come early or stay after.

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.

That Won’t Change You

Graphic

What an incredible week we had last Sunday at Revolution!

We broke through 400 as a church, had 2 baptisms, 7 people indicated they began a relationship with Jesus and we had over 25 first time guests.

I’m excited to see what God has in store for us this Sunday as we continue our brand new series Change as we look at Galatians 1:6 – 10 if you want to read ahead.

As you think about change in your life, at some point the idea of being free from something will come up.

I said last week: the reason most people fail to change in their life is they change the wrong things.

This week, we’ll take that a step further: the reason most people fail to change in their life is because they look to the wrong things to changethem.

In our lives, we look to our willpower or circumstances (I’ll change when I get married, have kids or _____ happens) to change us. We look to other people to change us, (if they notice me, accept me, love me) that will bring change in my life. We look to a lifestyle, having a certain car, gadget, house, vacation or comfort to change us. We don’t just look to these to change us, we look to these things to save us as well, to give us hope and a future.

In the end, all these things give us what they promise to give us, not what we hope they will give us.

If you or someone you know looks to something or someone other than Jesus as their hope for change, life, purpose, security or approval, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

If you brought someone with you last Sunday, shoot them a text and invite them back this Sunday.

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.

How We Change the World

Graphic

Have you ever looked at your world and wondered how it could be different? Could one person really change the world? Could one person or a group of people really work together and bring about the change they long to see?

The answer is Yes.

Sunday we are wrapping up our series All InThe last 4 weeks have been incredible as we look at why Revolution Church exists, what the gospel is and what it looks like to be on mission in our everyday lives. Sunday as we close and get ready for Easter, we are looking at how we change the world from Matthew 28:18 – 20 if you want to read ahead.

Here are a couple of things happening I want you to know about:

  • Paul is teaching a new song this week called Pursuit. This song has spoken to me in a big way in the past year. Listen to it here and be ready to sing this powerful song.
  • The Stations of the Cross is on Good Friday, April 18th. This is a powerful night of considering the cross and what Jesus did in our place.
  • We are having a baptism on Easter Sunday. If you have not taken this important step and would like to, or if you have questions about it, you can go here.
  • Be inviting people for Easter as we kick off our brand new series Change and look at how Jesus changes everything about us, the stuff we want to change and the things we don’t know we need to change.

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.

This Weekend @ Revolution Church: How God Answers Prayer

Graphic

Ever feel like your prayer life is lifeless? Like your prayers leave your mouth, float up to the ceiling and fall right back down next to you? Unanswered.

This week, as we continue our series All In we will look be looking at Acts 4:1 – 35 and seeing how to ask for it all in life.

One of the reasons many followers of Jesus never see God use them to the extent He could, never see miracles happen, never see mountains move is because they don’t ask. Or, if they ask for anything, they ask for the wrong thing.

Our prayer life reveals everything we believe about God and his power.

And the person that goes all in sees prayers answered in ways that others do not. And there is a reason for that. There is something in their prayers, in their hearts that is not in the prayers and hearts of others.

If you or someone you has struggled to see God move in their life, struggled to see God answer their prayers or struggles to see how God could use them, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.

Giving It All I Have

Graphic

Ever feel like the life you want is just out of your reach? You know what it looks like, you can feel it, but you can’t get to it.

This week, as we continue our series All In we will look be looking at Luke 10:25 – 37, at a very familiar story for many people and seeing what Jesus says about the life we long to live and how to get there.

In one conversation, Jesus answers the question of how someone finds life. Not just answering the question about eternal life, but how does one find a life worth getting up for in the morning? How do we find a life that is full of adventure, passion and risk? One that at the end of our life, we will know that it mattered.

Think for a minute, what if you could live the life God has called you to live? Imagine being able to be the kind of person others wanted to have around, a person others were thankful to know because of the way you impacted those around you.

If you or someone you know feels aimless in their life, struggles to see how God could use their one and only life, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

Going All In

Graphic

I love the first week of a brand new series, which makes this Sunday extra special as we are kicking off All In

For the next 4 weeks we’ll look at:

  1. How God changes the world we live in.
  2. How God uses us in our everyday life (at work, at starbucks, at school, at the park) to change the lives of people around us.
  3. How to share your faith and answer questions about the gospel and Jesus when people ask.
  4. How to pray audacious, world changing prayers for those who don’t know Jesus.
  5. How the mission of Jesus, the mission He has given to Revolution is unstoppable and nothing can stand in its way.

This week, as we kick off All In we will look be looking at Romans 8:14 – 17 and why we should go all in, what our motivation for changing the world, the why behind it all.

If you or someone you know feels aimless in their life, struggles to see how God could use their one and only life, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

Failing Forward

book

Sunday is the last week of our series FightIt has been an incredible 5 weeks looking at the life of Samson and seeing the battles that men fight and how to beat them.

Sunday, we will look at Judges 16:22 – 31 and see one of the major battles of every man: the fear of failure.

Failure, not measuring up, not making enough, not being all that you hope to be, not being man enough, or strong enough paralyzes many men. This fear keeps them from living the life God has called them to live.

Think for a minute about this: what would your life be like without fear, without regret, without being afraid that you won’t be enough or become enough, or being weighed down by past fear or failures?

That’s what we’ll unpack this week.

If you or someone you know struggles with fear, a fear of failure or struggles to move forward from past failure or hurt, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.

You Are One Choice Away from Wrecking Your Life

book

Only 2 weeks left in our series Fight and you don’t want to miss either of them.

As we continue this week and look at Judges 16:1 – 22 we see how our choices matter. Most of us make decisions everyday: what to eat, who to spend time with, what to buy, what shows or movies to watch, what to read or what websites to visit. We make these decisions often with very little thought about how they will affect our lives.

Yet, every choice impacts another choice.

Which leads us to a simple truth that we will unpack this Sunday: you are one choice away from wrecking your life.

The question is, how close are you to that choice?

If you or someone you know struggles with making right choices in their life or keeping boundaries in their life, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.

The One Question Every Man (and Woman) Must Answer

book

So far, Fight has been incredible as we have looked at the battles every man (and woman) fight to live the life God created them to live. If you missed either of the first two weeks, you can listen to them here and here.

This week, we will be looking at the the one question every man (and woman) must answer.

In Judges 14:11 – 15:20 (which you can look at if you want to read ahead), we see what drives Samson. All of us, whether we realize it or not, are driven by something. It might be a past memory or hurt, it might be a parent we want to please or be better than, it might be a spouse we want to make happy, it might be kids or a teacher we want to be proud of us. For many, it is their emotions that drive their decisions, habits, relationships and how they spend their money and time.

If we aren’t careful, we allow the wrong things to drive us.

Here’s one way to know:

When you look at your life and don’t like where something is? It might be your finances, school, career, a relationship, weight or your whole life. In that moment, if something is not where you think it should be, you have answered the one question incorrectly. You have allowed something other than Jesus to drive your life.

But it isn’t too late!

If you or someone you know struggles with answering this one question incorrectly, this is a great week to bring them to Revolution.

(I also have a really exciting announcement about the future of Revolution Church and Planet Rev, our kids ministry, that you don’t want to miss!)

Remember, we meet at 10am on Sunday mornings at 8300 E Speedway Blvd.
