Normally at Revolution, we preach through books of the Bible. Over the summer, we went through the Old Testament, which was an awesome series for me to preach through. Lots of great stuff and challenges as well. Then we did a series on marriage and dating called The Vow, and recently, we did a vision series and looked at what lays ahead for our church called Uprising.
After all of that, I am so excited for Revolution this Saturday. Not only are we starting a brand new series, but we are getting back to our bread and butter so to speak and preaching through a book of the Bible. We are going to spend the next 6 weeks going through the book of Titus. Titus is a short book, just 3 chapters in length. In it, the apostle Paul writes to Titus, one of his protege’s and shares with him how to lead a young and growing church. Much like Revolution, Titus is a young church planter, in a city and he is striving to lead a community of people to be on mission to that city. To saturate that city with the gospel instead of the city saturating the church with their gospel.
This series will be a foundational one as we are launching Missional Communities around the city, being the church 7 days a week in the world we inhabit. The reality is, all of us manifest (show, live out) a gospel. We either manifest one that says, “Live for yourself, look at for number 1, be lazy, don’t have integrity, be selfish, greedy, power hungry, a workaholic” or some variation of that. Or, we manifest a gospel that says, “I’m a servant, on mission, I want to show Jesus through my life, through all I do and say.”
The series breaks down like this:
October 29: How we See God (Titus 1:1 – 4)
November 5: Manifesting the Gospel Through the Church (Titus 1:5 – 9)
November 12: Manifesting the Gospel in the Mess (Titus 1:10 – 16)
November 19: Manifesting the Gospel in the House (Titus 2:1 – 10)
November 26: Manifesting the Gospel Through our Lives (Titus 2:11 – 15)
December 3: Manifesting the Gospel in the World (Titus 3)
