Blog world, meet Ashton Joshua. You have asked for pictures, here they are.
Now for the story for all the ladies. Guys feel free to skip this and scroll to the pictures.
After a false alarm on Monday night, we drove home in a rare blizzard in Tucson at 2 am. I literally could only see 10 feet in front of me. Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive and fog lights and that I had driven in snow before.
Tuesday, February 10 Katie started having pretty hard contractions at 6pm. For the next 2 hours, they averaged 6 minutes apart and they were so strong that she had a hard time standing and could not talk through them. Being the guy I said, “Let’s go. We’re not having this kid here.” So off we went.
We got to the birthing center around 8:30. She got some antibiotics she needed and we started walking around the parking lot. It was about 25 degrees (remember this is Tucson). It had to look funny to people driving by because she was in a robe and whenever she had a contraction she would hug me and I would hold her up and press on her back. We looked like we were making out on the sidewalk, awesome.
We went inside around 10:30ish, she got in the tub which was a huge help for about 45 minutes. At this point, the midwife headed over to the hospital to help with another birth. So it was Katie, the nurse and me.
Katie got out of the tub and sat on a birthing ball. About 25-30 minutes later her water broke and the nurse said, “Your contractions may slow down for a little so you know.”
One contraction later Katie yells, “Head.” I yell for the nurse to get in here and in 1 push Ashton was born.
He was born on February 10, 2009 at 11:45pm. Gavin was born on August 10, 2008 at 11:45pm. They were both 8 pounds, 11 ounces and 22 inches long. What can I say? We’re precise.
Because he came so quickly, he bruised on his face some, but that has worn off. Either way, he is super cute and Ava loves him. Gavin thinks it’s cool to have a baby around because he can say baby. Katie is doing great and Ashton got Katie’s cleft chin. Only took 3 kids for that to happen, but it got passed on!
