The Golden Compass

I watched The Golden Compass the other night. I had hoped to see it sooner as there was a lot of debate and controversy surrounding this movie and its atheists slant. Blog posts, chain letters, The Catholic church boycotting it, etc.

I do know that the author of the books, Philip Pullman does promote atheism in the books and rejects religion. I am not excusing that or saying we should turn a blind eye towards this.

I was struck after watching the movie, not only how entertaining it was, but also the opportunity to talk with people in our culture about the themes in the movie.
