Why Don’t People Invite People to Church?
This is a question that many pastors ask on numerous occasions, how do I get my church to invite people? Dave has a great post on this here.
From my perspective, this is a new level of commitment. People are willing to serve, give money, but by inviting someone, they are going public with their faith. It is a new level.
Another thing is that people in your church want to know what they are bringing someone to. Is it worth their time? Will their friends understand what is going on? Will they have to explain things? Will they feel stupid? Will they feel embarassed? Will they have to apologize for the music or some other part of the service? All of these anxieties keep people from inviting people to church.
At the end of the day, if church is worthwhile, if it is worth your time. If it has made an impact in your life, you will invite poeple. If church is something that you just have to be a part of, something you can’t miss, people will invite people. My wife does this with her Dyson, we do it with our Orange account through ING. Anything worthwhile, we tell others without being asked (see I just did it).
